Artist's Comments

Still within the Hyperborian universe, Red Sonja. I quite like how the hair turned out. I really wanted to make it look poofy and ehm French. Functionality of the costume is thrown out the window.

I was told by a lot of folks that her head is much too small for her body. I can see that now, but when I was drawing this (and another image), I was purposely trying to make the head look small because I felt that the heads of my characters were too bloated and too big for their bodies. I guess I over compensated? Hehe.

l always found the actress for the Red Sonia series really terrifying. Your version has the same strong face, but she's not so scary to me- l think you've made her just slightly more feminine, but kept her strength. lt's a good look!

Very nice, I like the costume. :) You certainly got the effect you wanted with the hair. :D

the hair is slightly old-school, rather like actresses in early she-warrior roles -- with a buff bod & full of spunk, but still with slightly impractical, poufed hair like that. hehe  but i really like the effect; u totally achieved the effect u've described.

haha. i doubt those strips of fabric will stay in place. & is that a skull at her crotch?? (can't see clearly, since u only provided a limited fullview)

small head? lol just call it a stylistic approach. could also be the hair. looks great either way.

I haven't read any of the Red Sonja books, but I've seen quite a number of depictions of her. Guess I'll have to check them out and see why she has such a huge fan base ^^

Hmm... maybe it is a bit smaller than normal, but it suits her just fine. The image is beautiful as always  Regarding the head, I would have to agree with Angelgear (just above me) and consider it a stylistic approach.
